LATEST TYKETRIAL NEWS

An excellent day at Brimham, good weather, good sections, excellent riding. Many thanks to the 39 riders who took part, those who weren't there really missed out!

It was great to see Ben Carlile's dad and mum and hearing their reminiscences about their last trip to Brimham with Ben. We hope that they will join us again next year to present the Memorial Trophy.

It took a lot of thought to decide who should be awarded the "Ben Carlile Memorial Trophy". What was the spirit of the day all about?

TykeTrial is a club, defined in the dictionary as "a group of people with common aims or interest". In our case it's trials that joins us together. Every club needs people to organise it and to do the tasks needed to keep those people together.

It was decided to award the Memorial Trophy to the club member who had done most in the last year to keep the group going, to make it possible for new young riders (like Ben once was) to join the group and to take part in the trials sport.

It was awarded to the rider who had set up the sections at nearly every club event in the last year, who has unreservedly given his time to help in lots of ways, including giving up his ride to observe on occasions, to spend the whole day of last year's fund-raising Easter Bunny Hop on the microphone, and to help out at lots of promotional demos, etc etc etc.

The Ben Carlile Memorial Trophy was awarded to Matthew Holdsworth with thanks from Kevin & Sam Carlile, aswell as a loud applause from all those present.

Well done Matthew!

The next event is the British National at Blackpool on 12th July - we hope to see all members there putting up a good show of just what TykeTrial members can do! The next club event is on 19th July.

Entry forms for both events will be in the post in the next few days, please get them sent off straight away.

Please remember that all club events are now strictly pre-entry only so you must send that form off as soon as possible.

We're made from true grit here in Yorkshire, with our youngest riders at just six years old, with their old-timer dads competing alongside them it makes for a fun family day out. (Mum carries the bags!) And it's not just the boys that ride, we have the ladies and girls riding too.
They start with us as youngsters, and keep going through to being a World Champion (at least for some)!
